A motorcyclist led authorities on a 90-mile chase up Interstate 35 through three Central Texas counties.
WEST (March 2, 2012)-Department of Public Safety troopers managed to stop a speeding motorcycle Friday night in West after the biker led police on a 90-mile high-speed chase that began in Williamson County.
A DPS communications officer said the motorcyclist abandoned his bike at about 8:30 p.m. Friday after troopers jammed up traffic on the north bound Interstate that prevented the rider from continuing his effort to escape.
The dispatcher said Williamson County units attempted to stop the motorcyclist north of Georgetown, but he refused to stop.
Officers believe the biker was a gang member who had outstanding warrants.
The bike he was riding had stickers that read, "Bandidos."
His identity had not been released Friday night.
Officers from several area jurisdictions joined in the chase as the biker sped from Williamson into Bell and finally into McLennan County.
A DPS trooper said the cyclist finally ditched his bike and surrendered in West.
No one was injured.
